FPCA Resolution

Resolution 2007-2, Supports the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation and its Standards.

WHEREAS, the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation was developed through a joint task force with executive members from the Florida Police Chiefs Association and the Florida Sheriffs Association, and;

WHEREAS, the Florida Police Chiefs’ Association fully supports the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. and the standards it promulgates as best practices for professional law enforcement agencies in Florida, and;

WHEREAS, the Florida Police Chiefs Association appoints four members to serve on the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation as Commissioners, and;

WHEREAS, the benefits of Florida law enforcement accreditation are: provides a professional review of agency operations, personnel practices and training policies by an outside entity; ensures policies and procedures are documented in writing and defendable; increases community support through transparency of operations; assurance agency personnel are trained and functioning according to agency policies and procedures; reinforces the agency’s ability to maintain the highest standards of professional law enforcement service; strengthens the agency’s defense against lawsuits and complaints; and establishes a framework of systems that ensures a quality work environment for well-trained professionals that aids in retaining and recruiting qualified personnel, and;

WHEREAS, the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. provides a Program Manager, training, and other tools to assist agencies in the successful attainment of accredited status, and;

WHEREAS, the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. provides financial assistance to any agency that needs it.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Florida Police Chiefs Association hereby recognizes the Florida law enforcement accreditation process as a professional management tool for any Florida law enforcement agency, and;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Florida Police Chiefs Association endorses the standards developed by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc.
