The Commission recognizes there are dedicated individuals and committees that go above and beyond expectations or have developed innovative ways of doing business that deserve special recognition. This awards program is one way of recognizing those individuals for their outstanding contributions to the law enforcement field.

Accreditation Manager of the Year
Accreditation Manager, Assessor, and Team Leader of the Year Awards
ELIGIBILITY:
- Member of a law enforcement agency or Inspector General’s Office that has been in the state accreditation process for a minimum of 1 year.
Accreditation Manager of the Year Award
The Accreditation Manager of the Year Award honors a highly motivated individual who has exhibited the skills to accomplish the agency’s goals of achieving state accreditation and all related activities. When submitting a nomination, please be prepared to provide information regarding your nominee in the following areas:
- Innovation and creativity in achieving significant program or organizational results.
- Contributions to improving the agency’s internal and external services.
- Demonstrated communication skills and initiative in motivating people to work together for a common goal.
- Commitment to managing the agency’s resources efficiently and effectively increasing stakeholders’ confidence in the agency’s overall mission.
- Establishing relationships and promoting cooperation between other Accreditation Managers statewide and in the local area.
- Nominations must be submitted by CEO, member’s supervisor, Commissioners, or Commission Staff by deadline.
Assessor of the Year Award
The Assessor of the Year Award honors an individual who demonstrates extraordinary support in furthering the Commission’s goals of assessing agencies fairly and effectively. When submitting a nomination, please be prepared to provide information regarding your nominee in the following areas:
- Promoting cooperation and communication with candidate agency members, Commission staff, and onsite assessment team members
- Quality and consistency of work product
- Assessment participation
- Demonstrated commitment to Commission’s principles, goals, and success
- Nominations can be submitted by CEO, member’s Supervisor, assessors, Commissioner, or Commission staff by deadline.

Team Leader of the Year Award
The Team Leader of the Year Award honors an individual who demonstrates extraordinary support and leadership in furthering the Commission’s goals of assessing agencies as well as effectively leading the assessment team. When submitting a nomination, please be prepared to provide information regarding your nominee in the following areas:
- Leadership
- Coaching and mentoring Assessors and Accreditation Managers
- Quality of written final reports and panel review presentations
- Demonstrated commitment to Commission’s principles, goals, and success
- Nominations can be submitted by CEO, member’s Supervisor, assessors, Commissioner, or Commission staff by deadline.
Sheriff Neil J. Perry Service Award
The Sheriff Neil J. Perry Service Award honors individuals and work units/teams for outstanding achievement, innovation, creativity, and smart work that measurably increases program efficiency, or furthers Commission goals. This award celebrates an individual’s or team’s entire body of work or a defined time frame.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Any individual or team that is either sanctioned by the Commission or a supporting organization, whose primary purpose is to assist or support the Commission.
- Activities occurred, originated, or completed within a defined time frame or includes an individual’s or teams entire body of work.
- Nomination submitted by CEO, member’s Supervisor, Commissioner, or Commission staff by deadline.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
When submitting a nomination, please be prepared to provide information regarding your nominee in the following areas:
- Work product provides a significant benefit to all or specific participants in the accreditation program.
- Provides a valuable contribution toward positive growth of the Commission.
- Promotes agency participation statewide through “behind-the-scenes” activities.
Executive Director Award
The Executive Director Award honors individuals for exceptional contributions that have significantly advanced Florida Accreditation during a calendar year. It will recognize individuals who demonstrate a dedication to the accreditation process and have gone above and beyond the call of duty to assist the commission, commission staff, and other accreditation professionals to improve Florida Accreditation. All nominations will be generated by the Florida Accreditation Office, endorsed by the Executive Director and confirmed by the awards committee. All nominees will be reviewed in the following areas that are applicable:
- Staff sanctioned teaching,
- Workgroup participation,
- Serving on SRIC
- Assessments conducted
- Assessments as team leader
- Agency assistance
NOMINATIONS:
Nomination timeframes are open for calendar 2023, with the exception of the Distinguished Service Award and the Sheriff Neil J. Perry Awards. Completed nominations must be submitted to JenniferJacques@fdle.state.fl.us no later than January 31, 2024. These nominations will be reviewed by the Awards Committee prior to the summer conference and will be presented during the formal business meeting.
