Biography

Reace Thompson has over thirty years of law enforcement experience and is currently assigned as the Jail and Court Services Administrator at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He began his law enforcement career in 1986 with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office as a Correctional Officer. He then relocated to Sumter County in 1987 and started his career with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. Major Thompson has held many positions with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office to include that of Road Patrol Deputy, Internal Affairs Inspector, Crime Scene Specialist, Property Crimes Detective, and Major Crimes Detective. Major Thompson has served as an assessor for the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission and as a Prison Rape Elimination Act assessor. He has attended the Saint Leo University Command Officers Academy and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University.
