Inspector General Dawn E. Case began her career in 1986 with Florida’s Department of Children and Families (formerly the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services), Office of Inspector General, where she held numerous investigative positions including six years as its Chief of Investigations. After 16 years with the Department of Children and Families, Office of Inspector General, she held the positions of Director of Investigations and Deputy Inspector General in the Executive Office of the Governor’s Chief Inspector General’s office under then Governors Jeb Bush and Charlie Crist and Chief Inspectors General Derry Harper and Melinda Miguel. After eight years with the Office of the Chief Inspector General, she returned to the Department of Children and Families as Inspector General where she served in that capacity for approximately fifteen months before returning to the Governor’s office as Deputy Chief Inspector General. In 2016, Ms. Case became the Inspector General for the Florida Department of Management Services. During her tenure as Inspector General, the Florida Department of Management Services Investigative function achieved accredited status in October 2018. In June 2019, Ms. Case returned to her position as Deputy Chief Inspector General under Chief Inspector General Melinda Miguel and Governor Ron DeSantis. Ms. Case also simultaneously served for several months as the Inspector General for the Agency for Health Care Administration and the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. In May 2023, Ms. Case was appointed as the Inspector General for the Florida Department of Financial Services. Ms. Case earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University. Ms. Case is a Certified Inspector General and a Certified Inspector General Investigator.
