Staff Biography

Rachel Duke joined the Florida Accreditation Office as a Program Manager in December 2021. She has approximately 14 years of forensic science experience. She was employed at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) - Division of Forensic Sciences and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) - Tallahassee Regional Operations Center in the field of forensic biology. While in this capacity, she examined evidence for the presence of biological fluids and processed evidence for DNA testing. She also served as an internal auditor to ensure the laboratories were following Quality Assurance Standards (QAS) which are quality assurance requirements that laboratories performing forensic DNA testing and/or utilizing CODIS should follow to demonstrate the quality and integrity of the generated data. At GBI, her responsibilities also included serving as an evidence custodian which involved receiving and returning evidence, organizing the evidence vaults, and conducting monthly inspections of evidence stored in the vaults. Rachel was previously employed for one year as a Government Operations Consultant I in FDLE’s Office of General Counsel.

Rachel holds a Master of Science from the University of Florida with a concentration in DNA and serology. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi with a minor in forensics and chemistry. She is a CJSTC Certified Instructor.
