Chief Ruben Bryant has served the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) for 27 year. He currently serves as the Prisons Division Chief within the JSO’s Department of Corrections. Prior to being appointed by Sheriff Mike Williams, Chief Bryant served as a Duel Certified Corrections Officer, Field Training Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. Throughout his career, Chief Bryant has had the privilege of being assigned to various operational positions at each rank as well as his assignments to several specialized units, to include Training, Accreditation, Internal Affairs and inmate Programs and Transitional Services. In July of 2015, he was appointed to the rank of Assistant Chief. While an Assistant Chief, he served as the Assistant Chief of the Community Transition Center, the Assistant Chief of Pretrial Detention Facility (PDF) Administrative Services and as the Assistant Chief of PDF Operations until he was appointed to the rank of Chief in April of 2019. Chief Bryant currently serves as a Florida Sheriff’s Association Certified Jail Inspector and prior to his FCAC Commission assignment, he was an active assessor/team leader for the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, Inc.
